What do we deliver in Google Analytics consulting?

Google Analytics consulting delivers a GA4 audit, a measurement plan, GA4 and GTM setup, conversion tracking, a Consent Mode configuration and Looker Studio reports. A tag that fires does not prove the data is right, so we start by auditing the data you already have. That audit is the measurement foundation we use in every channel as a data-driven digital marketing agency.

  • GA4 audit report

Events, conversions, channel groupings and filters are reviewed. Errors are delivered in writing, in order of priority.

  • Measurement plan

The document that ties business goals to KPIs and KPIs to GA4 events. It makes clear why each event is tracked.

  • GA4 and GTM setup

GA4 is set up or fixed through Google Tag Manager. Tags, triggers and variables are delivered in a well-organized container.

  • Conversion tracking

Actions such as form submissions, purchases and calls are defined and tested together with you. Data connections to your ad accounts are set up.

  • Consent Mode v2 configuration

Your consent tool's decision is passed to Google tags correctly and verified. A short definition is in the Consent Mode glossary entry. The legal assessment stays with your legal counsel.

  • Looker Studio reports

Decision-focused dashboards are built for leadership and marketing teams. Each dashboard answers a defined question and has a named owner who follows it.

Why do GA4 and Google Ads count the same conversion differently?

The two systems record conversions against different dates, in different units and under different rules. The gap is usually a difference in definitions, not an error. Google's guide to discrepancies between Google Ads and Analytics explains these differences one by one.

Why do GA4 and Google Ads count the same conversion differently?

How does a measurement plan tie a goal to a GA4 event?

A measurement plan ties every business goal to a KPI, and every KPI to an event and parameters to track. Event names follow Google's recommended events, so reports and integrations recognize the expected names.

How does a measurement plan tie a goal to a GA4 event?
KPIGA4 eventCore parametersReport
Collecting quote requestsQualified form submissionsgenerate_leadvalue, currency and form nameKey events column in the acquisition reports
Online salesRevenue and order countpurchasetransaction_id, value, currency, itemsEcommerce purchases report
Reducing checkout drop-offUsers who start checkout but do not finishbegin_checkout and purchasevalue, currency, itemsFunnel exploration

Which events are marked as a key event depends on the business goal. The event names in the table are examples, and the values are written for your site.

Which scenarios verify a GA4 setup?

Each scenario is run the way a real user would, and we check that the event arrives once, with the right parameters. Results are delivered in writing along with the scenario list.

  • Form submission: successful and failed submissions are tested separately, and the event fires only on success
  • Purchase: the transaction_id does not repeat on a test order, and refreshing the thank-you page does not count the event twice
  • Consent declined: no analytics cookie is set when the banner is declined, and tags fire after consent
  • Leaving for the payment provider and returning: the session is not attributed to referral traffic
  • Moving between domains: measurement continues in the same session
  • GTM preview mode and DebugView show the moment each tag fires
  • The internal traffic filter separates visits from inside the company

What is the difference between basic and advanced Consent Mode?

The difference is whether Google tags load before the visitor gives consent. Which implementation to choose is a decision for you and your legal counsel, and the technical verification sits with Digitruva.

What is the difference between basic and advanced Consent Mode?
Basic implementationAdvanced implementation
When tags loadAfter the visitor interacts with the banner and gives consentWhen the page loads, with the default consent state set to denied
If consent is deniedNo data is sent to GoogleCookieless measurement pings are sent
ModelingRelies on a general modelAdvertiser-specific modeling is possible

The details are in Google's Consent Mode overview.

Why does setup start with decisions?

First we write down which questions your team expects the data to answer. Setup and testing follow that measurement plan.

  1. Clarifying decisions and goals

The questions your team wants the data to answer become the foundation of the measurement plan.

  2. Auditing existing data

The GA4 property, the GTM container and the consent setup are reviewed.

  3. Completing the setup

Events, conversions and Consent Mode v2 are implemented and tested with real scenarios.

  4. Building reports

Looker Studio dashboards are built, and your team learns how to read them.

  5. Regular review

The measurement plan is updated as your site, campaigns or goals change.

Who is Google Analytics consulting a good fit for?

It fits teams that want to trust their data and base decisions on it.

  • Businesses that do not trust their GA4 data, or whose reports differ from their ad platforms
  • Marketing teams that want to base ad budgets on conversion data
  • Brands launching or migrating a site that want measurement set up right from the start
  • E-commerce sites that want to track the purchase journey end to end
  • Teams that want to give leadership a single, clear report

What to clarify before starting Google Analytics consulting

What is Google Analytics and what is it used for?

Google Analytics is Google's tool for measuring user behavior on websites and apps. It shows where visitors come from, what they do on which pages and which conversions they complete. Its current version, GA4, records every interaction as an event.

Page views, form submissions and purchases all live in the same model. Events that matter to the business are marked as key events in GA4, and Analytics shows them in a separate column in acquisition reports. For web analytics work, this data alone is not enough.

A Search Console link brings organic queries into the same property, and a Google Ads link brings in campaign results. Under the Search Console linking rules, a web data stream can be linked to only one Search Console property, so the link must be set up with the right site.

Is Google Analytics free?

Yes, standard Google Analytics is free. Analytics 360 is a separate service tier offered under contract. It raises the limits on data collection, reporting, retention and BigQuery export.

For example, data retention on a standard property is at most 14 months, while 360 extends it up to 50 months. In practice, the problem is usually not the limits but data accuracy.

Even though the tool is free, setup, auditing and reporting are separate work. The cost of consulting depends on site structure, the number of events to track, the advertising and consent tools in use and the scope of reporting. Scope, timeline and revisions are set out in writing in the proposal once the existing property has been reviewed.

How do you use Google Analytics?

You use Google Analytics by connecting a GA4 property to your site, defining key events and then making regular decisions from the reports. During setup, the Google tag is added directly or Google Tag Manager is used.

GTM lets you manage tags from one interface without changing the site code each time. Next, the event data retention period is checked, because dates outside that period show up empty in exploration reports. An internal traffic filter separates visits from within the company.

Filters do not apply to historical data, so they should be set up at the very start. Data analysis shows its real value when it starts with a question. Traffic sources, page performance and conversions are read against business questions, not as a general overview glanced at once a month. Looker Studio turns these questions into dashboards fit for management.

Why doesn't GA4 data match Google Ads?

An exact match is not expected, because the two systems count different things under different rules. The GA4 and Google Ads table on this page summarizes the definitional differences. Once those are set aside, the remaining gap usually comes from the setup.

If auto-tagging is off or redirects drop the gclid parameter, the session gets attributed to the wrong channel. If the accounts use different time zones or currencies, daily totals drift. Visitors who do not give consent appear differently in GA4 reports, while Google Ads uses its own measurement and modeling.

In an audit, Digitruva rules out these technical causes one by one, documents the remaining gap and writes down which decision should be based on which source. Ad conversion tracking ties bidding decisions to this definition.

Can you set up GA4 once and leave it?

Setup happens once, but its accuracy has to be maintained continuously, because measurement changes as the site changes.

A new form, a renamed button, a theme update or a new consent tool can cause events to stop silently. Because data keeps appearing in the reports, the problem often goes unnoticed for weeks. The UTM convention should be checked again when a new campaign launches, and cross-domain measurement should be rechecked when a new domain is added.

Digitruva keeps the measurement plan as a living document. When the site, a campaign or a goal changes, the validation scenarios on this page are run again and the plan is updated. That way, trust in the reports comes from regular checks rather than a one-time setup.

How does Consent Mode v2 affect GA4 data?

Consent Mode passes the visitor's cookie consent choice to Google tags and changes how the tags behave accordingly. The second version of Consent Mode adds the ad_user_data and ad_personalization parameters alongside ad_storage and analytics_storage.

In GA4 reports, its effect shows up most through the consent rate. As the rate changes, session and conversion counts change too, so a design change to the consent banner can look like a drop in traffic. The comparison on this page summarizes the difference between basic and advanced implementation.

Consent Mode does not store the choice. The consent tool does that. Default values must be defined before the tags fire, otherwise the first hit may be sent before the consent decision. Technical validation is part of the consulting, while the choice of implementation is a decision to make with your legal counsel.
